Larry Williams started flying at the age of 17 and obtained his FAA Flight Instructor certificate at 18. His experience includes aircraft charter pilot, regional airline Captain, corporate aircraft flight department manager, and over 30 years with the FAA in numerous job assignments worldwide. He began his FAA career as an Air Traffic Control Specialist in 1976 and transferred to the Flight Standards division as an Operations Inspector in 1978.  His assignments with the FAA included Juneau, AK FSDO; FAA Academy Instructor; Nashville, TN FSDO; and FAA Washington, DC Headquarters. He has extensive experience in working with Civil Aviation Authorities, airlines and other aviation operations worldwide, which includes training programs, developing operations manuals, safety management systems, and crew resource management.

Larry retired from the FAA as a Supervisory Inspector in 2010 and has been working as a consultant in the aviation industry in various capacities worldwide. This work includes regulatory compliance and safety audits, expert witness and FAA enforcement assistance, accident and incident investigation. He presently serves as a contract instructor at the FAA Academy teaching CRM, Enforcement Procedures, Safety and Compliance, Professionalism, etc. He is qualified as an IOSA, ACSF and IS-BAO auditor. He is also a Paralegal and Certified Fraud Examiner.

 

Larry holds an Airline Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single and Multi-engine land and sea, Rotorcraft Helicopter and Gyroplane, nine type ratings, and glider ratings.  His FAA Flight Instructor Certificate includes Airplane Single and Multiengine; Rotorcraft Helicopter and Gyroplane; Instrument Airplane and Helicopter; Glider and has accumulated over 12,000 hours of pilot time. He also holds an FAA Advanced and Instrument Ground Instructor certificate.

 

Larry holds B.S., M.Ed., and Ed.S. degrees from Middle Tennessee State University where he has served as an adjunct instructor in the Aerospace Department.  He is a graduate of the University of California’s Institute of Safety and System Management Aviation Safety Certificate Program.
